Earlier this week a horrible crash occurred in Mexico during a sanctioned race and this along with a few encounters over the past couple of weeks on my training rides got me to thinking about the co-existence of riders and drivers. (more…)

This past weekend was the Velocity Stage Race held out at Josephburg and in Edmonton involving three events, a time trial, criterium and road race. This is the third year I’ve participated in the race and I was looking forward to seeing friends in the peleton.

Fixing Pro Cycling February 26, 2008

Joe Lindsey has an interesting blog entry about how to fix pro cycling. Given the events of the past couple of weeks, with ASO extentially booting Astana from all it’s events and now UCI calling for a boycott of the Paris-Nice, it’s becoming time for something to be done. I’ve only been interested in pro cycling for a couple of years but this is getting to be too much.
I like his analogy of the NHL, where too much expansion too fast has decreased the quality of play. I’ve never been able to figure out why the NHL wants teams in places that normally don’t see a piece of ice bigger than a cube that fits in a glass
At any rate it’s nice to read about ideas that can help fix the current situation. One hopes the powers that be in pro cycling start to take notice.
